What does "Bantu" mean?
The word Bantu is derived from the root-ntu, meaning "person," and the prefixba-, which pluralizes it to mean "people" or "humanity."
Spoken by over 400 ethnic groups across Central, Eastern, and Southern Africa, the term represents a vast linguistic and cultural tapestry.
At Oriaku Studio, we chose the name Bantu to honor this shared heritage and the spirit ofUbuntu—the belief that "a person is a person through other people."
This collection is a tribute to human connection, craftsmanship, and the enduring strength of the community.
